CEDEN - THE GAMBIA PARTICIPATION AT AWCYB WORKSHOP IN BARRA

The National workshop for Child's Consultation in The Gambia on Child Protection Legislation, Policies, Procedures and Practices about C.R.C which is organized by the Coordination of working children and youth of The Gambia, started on the 11th August 2017 at Octagon Residence in Essau.

The workshop gathers together 24 participants from all the seven different associations AWCY namely Barra, Soma, Farafenni, Brikama, Pakalinding, Kaur, Tanji, and CEDEN - The Gambia.


The participants learned the following
  1. Concept and defination of child Rights

  2. Roles of children in Child Rights Promotion

  3. The African charter on the rights and welfare of children

  4. Similarities between the C.R.C and the A.C.R.W.C

  5. The legal instruments( Guiding Principles and obligations)

  6. How C.R.C is being Monitored the Reporting and Organisation

  7. The U.P.R (Universal periodic Report Review) information for NGOs

  8. Discussion on the children act of the Gambia 2005

  9. The main areas of the concluding observation on the Gambia’s combined second and Third periodic Reports

Through these session some of the issues highlight were discuss with the member of Parliament of Lower Niumi and the Lady counselor. These is geared towards the our advocacy of some of laws which are not yet sign by the government.
